Welcome!

Starr King is an ethnically and socio-economically diverse public school in San Francisco. Our students, teachers, and families embrace the myriad perspectives, opportunities, and challenges of our kaleidoscopic community.

Our site is home to four programs—Special Education, Transitional Kindergarten, Experiential Learning, and Mandarin Immersion—with very distinct needs, but common goals.

As both a neighborhood school and a citywide one, Starr King embraces diversity and empowers every student to claim their education.

Our school culture is based on personal responsibility and mutual respect. We value coming to school on time, participating with courage and perseverance, and learning together.

We celebrate each other through Dia de los Muertos, Black History Month, Chinese New Year, Holi, and the day-to-day, year-to-year relationships we make and grow.

Starr King is a microcosm of the world. The work we do with our kids here is work we do in service of human beings who will shape our future.

Soar together!
