FAQs
Please continue to check back for updates!
1. What is Spring Fling?
Spring Fling is Starr King’s annual fundraising party to raise funds for our students and build community with other Starr King parents and staff. The event will include many ways for you to lend your support to the success of our Starr King community. We will have both an online and live auction of memorable experiences and gifts AND an opportunity to raise your paddle with a live auctioneer to support the important academic and enrichment programs for our students.
2. Who should attend?
Starr King Friends and Family! All parents and caregivers of current, previous, and future Starr King students are invited to attend alongside teachers and staff. Grandparents and extended family and friends are also encouraged to join in the fun! This party is for adults only.
3. What is the dress code?
Casual dressy! Free free to come in what you feel is comfortable but consider taking advantage of your child-free night and dress up for the night.
4. What time should I arrive?
6pm is when doors open. Feel free to come and get drinks, food and mingle with your fellow parents. Our live auction program will start at 7pm, please try to come before then. This year, we will debut an AMAZING video talking about the what fundraising helps support at the school at 8pm. The live auction and paddle raise should be over after 9:15pm. That’s when the real fun starts! Doors close at 10pm.
5. I’m not familiar with fundraising events, what should I expect?
At its core, the Spring Fling is a big party with music, entertainment, food, and drinks and lots of mixing and mingling with friends and families in the Starr King community. We will have a few opportunities for families to donate:
Raffle. Buy a raffle ticket and win prizes.
Online Auction. Beginning one week prior to the event, everyone will have an opportunity to bid online on a variety of auction items, gift certificates, entertainment from local merchants and cultural institutions. You can also bid on a variety of fun and memorable experiences hosted by Starr King families and teachers.
Live Auction. The most entertaining part of the evening! Watch as a half-dozen “big ticket” items get sold during a live auction with a legit auctioneer. Enjoy the suspense and drama of seeing some friendly competitive bidding -- or get involved yourself. The auctioneer will close out with the live Fund-a-Need for your opportunity to raise your bid paddle and make a pledge to Starr King!
6. This sounds like fun. How can I help?
Here are a few ways you can help make Spring Fling a success:
Donate your time and talents by hosting a family party or experience for the online auction
Donate a big-ticket item or experience for the live auction.
Donate a bottle of wine or an item for the online silent auction
Volunteer to help with planning or on the day of the event
7. What are family parties?
Do you have a special skill, talent, or hobby that you can share with our community? If so, host a fun party or activity for a group of students or adults that families can bid on. You decide the activity, date, number of participants, and location. And, we can work with you to price the experience for the auction. Families can bid to participate in the special activity. You can meet new families and students, enjoy a fun new experience, AND help Starr King! It’s a win for everyone!
